The local government event of the year

The Local Government Association’s annual conference is the biggest event in the local government calendar. It also is one of the biggest political conferences of the year regularly attracting over 1,100 delegates.

In June 2011 we completed the most successful annual conference since the Local Government Association (LGA) was formed in 1997. That is the view of leading members, speakers and delegates. The Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition and two Cabinet ministers came and praised the sector and our role in it.

This year’s event will be no less thought provoking and will really be one not to be missed! We hope to leave you:

  • informed – share experiences and take back ideas on how to further develop and improve your offer to your communities
  • enthused – network and participate in a full programme of activities.

The conference will be the place to go for debates on economic growth, local leadership, new models of innovation in service delivery, reforms in public sector pensions, planning, local government finance, welfare and benefits, debates around the role of local authorities in education and social care and self-improvement and a host of other issues.
