In these difficult times, local authorities have no choice but to look to residents and communities to shoulder some of the burden. Elected members have a crucial role to play in helping councils to unlock the capacity of local communities.
But whilst for some councillors the role of ‘community leader’ comes naturally, others require support and development to take on a different kind of role.
OPM, an independent public interest company, has been working with Shropshire Council to develop and implement a groundbreaking community leadership programme for the Council’s elected members.
This event will provide an opportunity to hear about how local authorities can successfully support councillors to take on more of an active community leadership role, including examples of the community projects that Shropshire elected members have already helped to get off the ground.
