How you have found the scheme so far?
I started at Greenwich as it was going through some major transformation programmes which has given me a range of insights into the challenges being faced by local authorities. This has given me a good understanding and skills base for my future career. This has been supplemented by enthusiastic buy-in from senior managers, in addition to the academic modules we have covered that have allowed me to put my experiences into their wider context.
Greenwich is also an Olympic Host Borough and I am involved with some exciting projects in planning through to delivery of events in the Borough.
Placement example
My first placement was in the Strategic Projects Team in Children’s Services. I was involved in statistical analysis looking at the pressures on school place planning in the Borough: allowing us to capture trends and anticipate increased demand for places especially for Primary schools. Following this I was based at a local secondary school, planning for a school move as part of the Building Schools for the Future Programme.
Placement example
My second placement is in a Corporate IT transformation and upgrade project. I am working with key stakeholders across the Council in ensuring the change happens smoothly and the new IT infrastructure takes into account their needs. I am also delivering a Training Programme and take the lead on the project’s Engagement Strategy.
