Over the two years of the programme you will take part in a range of work placements and projects across the local authority. These will be based within:
- A strategic or corporate function
- A front-line or customer-facing service delivery area, and
- A support service such as human resources, finance, information communications technology, legal services etc
Placements and projects are an excellent way to gain valuable experience across a broad range of services and functions. It is expected that the nature and content of these placements are agreed between the trainee and the employer. Your first placement or project will be allocated to you, then, as your experience and knowledge grows, you will become more closely involved in identifying your next placement so that you can take personal responsibility for the development of your knowledge and skills.
